KEy projects and partnerships
Through generous funding from organizations like Wildlife Works, MEDA, Everland, Solid Crafts, Rukinga Ranch, and Cigna Health Fellowship, we have developed projects that empower artisans, train women and youth, and promote ethical, environmentally-friendly practices.
Wildlife Works – Foundational Support in Logistics and Capacity Building (2014 – now)
Wildlife Works has been a steadfast partner, providing logistical assistance and capacity building that were essential along the way. Their support allowed us to establish efficient operations and develop the necessary infrastructure, and employment of key staff until Hadithi Crafts could sustain them by sales, enabling Hadithi Crafts to expand its reach and impact year after year. Wildlife works’ commitment has been foundational to our ability to serve and empower artisans sustainably.
MEDA Partnership – Strengthening Community and Organizational Growth (2018-2020)
Our collaboration with MEDA enabled Hadithi to expand community initiatives and enhance operational capacity, thanks to MEDA’s matching grant, which required us to raise 50% of the project funding. This investment significantly bolstered our ability to sustainably scale operations, bringing tangible benefits to our artisans and communities.
Everland – Launch of the Dye Center for Ethical Craft Certification (2024)
With the support of Everland, we launched our dye center, an essential facility for ethical craft certification. This center not only promotes the sustainable use of natural dyes but also ensures our products meet global ethical standards. This critical step allows us to position our artisans’ crafts as environmentally responsible products, enhancing marketability and trust in our commitment to ethical practices.
Solid Crafts – Skills Training and Development for Artisans (2017-now)
With 10 000 USD per year, Solid Crafts has supported so many of our training programs, helping us provide our artisans with essential skills in areas like basket weaving, beadwork, and design. These training programs empower women to refine their crafts, making their work more competitive in local and global markets. Solid Crafts’ support ensures that each artisan receives the guidance and tools needed to succeed. Solid Crafts is also one of our main customers for our wholesale products.
Solid Crafts also funded many other life empwering trainings. for example on budgeting, debt management, Chicken rearing, human-elephant conflict, and many more.
Rukinga Ranch – Youth Projects in Welding and Leatherworking (2018 / 2020 / 2022)
With several 500 000 KES project funds received from Rukinga Ranch, we launched several youth-focused initiatives that provide skills training in welding in Makwasinyi and leatherworking in Magwede and leather crafting in Buguta. These projects are designed to address youth unemployment by equipping young people with marketable skills. The programs create opportunities for economic independence and sustainable futures.
Cigna Health Fellowship – Sexual and Reproductive Health Training (2022-2023)
Cigna health community fellowship has provided funding for sexual and reproductive health training. This 20000 USD initiative, for which we teamed up with Kujuwa Initiative, has reached all of our women’s groups, bringing them all four tailored trainings on female reproductive health, which is critical for the wellbeing of our community members and their families.

Sample Project Budgets and Call for Support
To give a clearer idea of the impact your contribution can make, here are some sample budgets for our existing projects:
Sponsor a Training Program: Funding one training session for our artisan groups costs approximately 320,000 KES. This investment enables our artisans to enhance their skills in craft techniques, business, or health and safety—empowering them to create higher-quality, marketable products that support their families and communities.
Support a New Skill-Building Program: Equipping women but also youth with valuable skills in welding, leatherworking, and other new crafts requires 700,000 KES per program. This training provides young people with skills for sustainable income, reducing unemployment and promoting self-sufficiency within their communities.
Research and Development: we have so many needs and ideas for innovation. Sustainable material innovation, craft & dye technique documentation and preservation, market research for new product lines, exploring Ecommerce integration and optimisation, research consumer trend and social media analytics, to name a few… By investing in these areas, Hadithi Crafts can position itself as an innovative, quality-driven, and sustainable brand in the global handicrafts market. These R&D investments support long-term growth, increased market, and a resilient future for artisans and the communities they support.
Maintain affordable access to raw materials: To supply good raw materials to artisans we set up satellite shops in key villages, and the ongoing cost of supplying and maintaining them adds a basic cost that would be a burden on the artisans. To keep them supplied we look for 70000 KES per month or 840000 KES yearly.
Call for Volunteers
In addition to funding, we welcome skilled volunteers from around the world to contribute to our mission remotely. Whether you're experienced in marketing and sales, data management, product design, research, photography or graphic design, your skills can help us grow our impact. As a volunteer, you’ll be directly involved in initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods, preserve traditional crafts, and empower local communities.
