Some of our most unique fineweave sisal baskets are finished with goat leather, tanned and crafted in Buguta village, providing more livelihoods for the Youth in Buguta.
About the leather tanning
In 2021 Hadithi Crafts trained a youth group and equipped a tanning workshop for them in Mwachabo (Buguta). They tan the goat hides, byproduct of the local meat industry, into leather that suits the baskets perfectly. Rustique and real!
About the leather crafting
In 2022 Hadithi Crafts set up another youth group for leather craftwork at the Buguta Disabled group. This group of artisans is now working at Buguta disabled group specialising in the leatherwork adding value to baskets.
